Arrrrrrg, bad jokes I know. Don't make me walk the plank!

It has been smooth sailing lately. We released the play test documents this weekend. If you did not get your copy or would like to preview it, please contact me through kickstarter or at our email address ([email protected]). Those that have the documents thank you for the help. We need all ideas and suggestions back to us by October 31st so that we can get the book into layout.

Rolling past the Storm

My most humble apology for the delay since the last update. We had a hurricane of issues swell up, but rest easy we Batten down the hatches and made it through. Though we are hundreds of miles away from where Hurricane Irma hit several of our partners including our editor were not so lucky. Everyone is ok and we are sailing again.

So where are we then? We are finalizing playtest documents right now and will have them out this weekend. If you would like to be included in with these, please send me your email address. Those that already sent me their address there is no need to send again.

Now I may be the only one that thinks this is cool, but the Spanish Doubloons for use as bennies were also hit by the Hurricane. So I am looking at them as Hurricane Hit Sunken Doubloons. Reality is they were probably on a shelf somewhere, but I still picture the good folks at Norse Foundry digging up the buried treasure to get them to us.

Barnacles on the Ship

Ahoy Everyone,

We want everyone to know where we stand right now. Unfortunately we have hit some rough waters. The book is still moving forward but will be delayed. We have hit some delays in multiple areas that are slowing down our progress. These should not be extensive, but will push back the release.

Because of these delays we have not been able to get our play test documents out, and we want this to be thoroughly vetted before we go to print. Our co-author Chris "Savage Mommy" Fuchs has issued orders from the command deck, that this product must meet the standards the players and GM's of Savage Worlds have come to expect. We apologize for the delay but the Savage Mommy insists everything is Ship Shape.

Howdy Everyone,

Wanted to give an update.  We are a little behind schedule with getting everything to editing, but we are working hard to make up time. There should be little disruption in getting it done. Those that signed up to play test, I should have a text version to you by the 27th.

Great News on our Adventure Generator. Gilbert Gallo has created an absolute brilliant generator for the book. I am excited for all of you to see. Gilbert is the author of Voodoo Pirates and co-author of Olympus, Inc. and a variety of other setting books, adventures and other projects.

Another taste of art for the book from Rick Hershey. This is the Storm of Souls. You can read more about it below.

Storm of Souls

With their former identities and relationships lost to time, and being unable to regain independence, a mass of ancient souls rose from the steam of the fissure and bound together to form a great storm whose outward appearance was like any other. But this was no ordinary storm. Fueled by the souls of the ancient dead, this menacing cyclone radiates fear, wreaks havoc on land and sea, and casts unholy bolts of lightning from its core.

Like the natural hurricanes of the Caribbean, the storm can flow along established wind patterns, which cross over the High Water islands, continue around Cuba and then head straight towards the Bermuda Triangle. It is at this point that the storm is at its greatest strength, and many ships are lost to the triangle for this reason. After a time, the storm loses strength and steam begins to rise again from the fissure, creating a new storm of souls. Occasionally the storm does not follow normal wind patterns, and can deliver its devastation anywhere in the Caribbean.

All who witness the writhing souls must make a fear check at -4, and even those who attempt to avoid the storm below decks or hiding in a shelter on land must make a fear check at -2 due to the piercing banshee calls which echo all around.

Ghost ships have been seen emerging from storm hunting the crews that have wronged them. Beyond the supernatural horrors, the Storm of Souls also acts as a powerful hurricane, bringing with it dangerous winds and violent swells. See rules on storms.
